J.R.R. Tolkien – The Lord of the Rings

Gisteren het boek The Lord of the Rings (geschreven door J.R.R. Tolkien) uitgelezen.

De beschrijving zoals op het boek:

Sauron, the Dark Lord, has gathered to him the Rings of Power – the means by which he will be able to rule the world. All he lacks in his plan for dominion is the Ruling Ring, which has fallen into the hands of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins.

In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as the ring is entrusted to his care. He must leave his home and make a perilous journey across the realms of Middle-earth to the Crack of Doom, deep inside the territories of the Dark Lord. There he must destroy the Ring forever and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.

Met dit boek wordt het verhaal over Hobbits, Dwergen, Elfen en Tovenaars afgemaakt. Het boek is fantastisch om te lezen. Het is wel dik, zo een 1140 bladzijdes, maar het is het wel waard. Het boek is in het Engels, dus je moet wel even je best doen.

Ik ben echt helemaal gek van alles wat met The Lord of the Rings te maken heeft. Ik ben in het bezit van de boeken The Hobbit, or, There and Back Again, The Lord of the Rings en The Silmarillion. Verder heb ik op DVD de complete The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. Mocht ik me op een druiligerige zondag vervelen, dan kan ik ook nog de bordspelen In de Ban van de Ring, In de Ban van de Ring – Vrienden & Vijanden en In de Ban van de Ring – Sauron doen. Ik heb zelfs het computerspel The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring.

Als je nog nooit van The Lord of the Rings gehoord hebt, kan ik je aanraden om te beginnen met de films. Deze zijn in iedere videotheek te huren, dus dat moet makkelijk zijn.
